There are times in life where getting a feeling out is a complicated thing. There’s this ever-present sensation that something is happening, but that ‘something’ is not straightforward or easy to pin-point— or maybe in existence yet. When I was a little girl and the weather was terribly hot and dry, my mom used to say it was ‘earthquake heat.’ I never liked when she said that because how could she be so sure in anticipation. Now, subtle signs that alert major events fascinate me. If you observe close enough, you are able to spot those signs. That’s pretty much how I have been feeling lately. Am I perhaps experiencing the heat before the earthquake?
Here are this week’s fixations:
Portrait d'une jeune fille de la fin des années 60 à Bruxelles (1994)
I will never be alone as Chantal Ackerman’s films always keep me company. Coming-of-age story of a curious girl. A romantic drifter. Just like most of us, for real.
This album
Going down the street. This one will have you skipping, not walking.
“People around the world recorded the sounds of their forests, so you can escape into nature, and unwind wherever you are.”
I feel that if we all went on this website for at least 5 minutes every morning, we would just get a little better.
Lemaire FW 2020
One of my favourites ever. Cristophe and Sarah-Linh simply know how to do it. Here, models sway naturally in the space. They seem familiar in their silhouettes. The outfitting: incontestable. These are that type of people you see in the street and never forget about. Perfect conceptual presentation, flawless soundtrack, outstanding collection.
I hope you are doing okay. Goodbye now. Talk soon!
An evening letter for you is an early morning one for me (5am to be exact). What better way to start my day than to be reading a personal letter like this? I’ll now be brushing my teeth to the sound of a random forest somewhere in the world. Thanks Lupe :)
